The bartender who listened for a living!

On the week days...it does get quiet at work. In fact so quiet that i get aquainted with alot of customers who stop through the shangri la on thier long journies. From all around the world and not so far distant cities, they come with stories of life, love, good and the bad times times. I know alot about the outside world culture because of people like these who come through to tell stories. Tonight inparticular i had a chat with afew interesting people.

First off was a man from sweeden who was afraid of hights. He told me about his fear and how he had been around the world from places like chicago ontop of a building with 96 levels. It seems as though alchohol is the only thing that could possibly quell his fear of hights! LOL nothing like getting drunk to help you forget your fears right? LOL!. We had a chat about The different kinds of beers he had tasted and abit about my own country. Then just like that...he was off to finish his journey where ever it's going to take him.

The next customer was a man named Rob who was from melbourne. Id met him maybe 3 or 4 months ago. That time back then he was visiting for a few days on buisness and to watch a swans vs colingwood match! for those 3 or 4 days hed come up and always order with me and stay a little while for a chat before he went to sleep!...hes a really cool dude...infact we actually had alot in common. He actually knew exactly how much i loved melbourne and so this time around when he saw me, he personally invited me to hit him up next time i was in melbourne and hed take me and my g/f to an AFL match! Its the first time iv ever recieved a number from a guy over the bar! But its so worth it...ill definatly give him a ring next time i go to visit...just to catch up! He was down only for a day and so off he went to bed and forth on his journey!

The last man was an overweight middle aged man called BOB. He was from chicago but had been living in sydney his whole life. His story was the sadest iv yet to hear! He was in a downish mood and needed a little cheering up. So the poor man poured his heart out to me about how his mother in law had died and his wife was very sad. He is heading up to QLD! tomorrow (Today) For the funeral etc. He seemed so much happier as our conversation steered to beer and how his son is a trouble maker while his daughter is an absolute angel LOL!... We spoke of life and how you need to enjoy the good times. It made me smile because as sad as this man was. He still knew that life goes on and that its not so bad after the hardships have passed. With a pleasent hand shake and a smile he was off to bed. Hope the days following are only going to get better for him. But that will be his journey!...

Those customers made the extreamly slow time, speed up faster than anything...1 minute its 7:00pm and the next minute im calling last drinks on the bar :)! GG! I wonder how all my other customers are! Iv not spoken to them in a long time dispite having them on my facebook!

Makes me remember the good customer who became regulars for a short time! I wonder how Eelco is doing! Hope his G-star job is doing well around the world :)! Josh the jolly fat american who lives in melbs! Peter who i see 3 times a week LOL! Those american girls who i cant remember the names LOL!

anyways i love my job and specially because of this reason :)! time to sleep!! WOOT

Thought of the day: Good times at pancakes tonight haha ^_^!
